Rio de Janeiro International Airport (GIG), or Galeao-Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport as it is otherwise known, now has the capacity to handle 15 million passengers per year.

The airport provides an essential gateway to this popular Brazilian holiday region and is located about 20 km / 13 miles north of the centre of Rio de Janeiro city, close to Duque de Caxias and the Parque Shangai. Located on Governador Island, the Galeao International Airport is now handling almost 10 million annual passengers and features two large terminals, both of which feature 12 jetways and are arranged in an oval shape.
