In the province of La Romana of Dominican Republic,
near the town of Bayahibe was opened a unique Underwater museum
for divers. The Museum was opened to divers in a joint project of the U.S. Agency for International
Development (USAID), Indiana University, the National Underwater Cultural Heritage (ONPCS)
and the Government of the Dominican Republic. The museum is open to the 310 anniversary of the shipwreck of
"Cara Merchant"- a ship of famous pirate Captain Kid. Underwater Museum is located just a few dozen meters
from the coast and offers all diving enthusiasts a unique opportunity to closely see the many
fragments of the vessel of 17 th century, fragments of which are among the rare corals and other representatives of
