On November 26, 2011 in the list of non-material objects of UNESCO World Heritage was inscribed Chinese shadow puppet theater. In the shadow theater uses a large translucent screen and flat colored figures of puppets (marionettes), which are controlled by thin sticks. Figures of puppets leaning against the screen behind and become visible. Each submission is accompanied by music and singing, in which the play is fully disclosed. Chinese shadow puppet theaters can be found in many provinces in China, but they were especially popular in the area of "geographic triangle", which includes the provinces of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Ningxia Autonomous Region of Huesca. One of the largest Chinese shadow puppet theaters in the world located in Beijing, the address of the Chinese shadow puppet theater in Beijing, is shown on the map at the top of this article.
