Singapore scientists Jennifer Sheridan and David Bickford have suggested, that global warming could cause a reduction in the size of plants and animals on Earth. The rational for this hypothesis in an article in the journal Nature Climate Change, they presented data about reduce the size of plants and animals at different periods of Earth history. For example, some sixty million years ago, the average temperature at Earth's surface has increased by 3 degrees, which is why almost halved the size of many insects, that lived in that period, and the size of many animals decreased by 20-30%. According to scientists, the size of their plant shoots decreased by 3%, and in many animal species by 5% as the temperature of their environment increaseson on a degree.
