A vaccine against Ebola has been successfully tested |

As reported in an article in the «Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences», a team of scientists from the United States, under the leadership of Charles
Arntzen, for the first time been able to develop a vaccine against Ebola. The vaccine has successfully tested on a population of laboratory mice. At this time,
the researchers plan to begin testing a new vaccine on a primates after obtaining a permit. Ebola – is a highly contagious acute viral disease, characterized by
severe, highly fatal, and the development of hemorrhagic syndrome, is caused by the Ebola virus. The Ebola virus was first found in the western equatorial
province of Sudan and the nearby region of Zaire in 1976. In June and November 1976, Ebola virus were infected 284 people in Sudan, 151 of whom had
died. In September and October 1976 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, there were 318 infected people, 280 of whom had died. During the period
from September 2000 to January 2001 the Ebola virus were infected 425 people, 224 of whom had died. It was the largest recorded epidemic of Ebola and
the first since 1979, reported emergence of a new Sudan subtype of Ebola virus. Since the opening of the Ebola virus, there were about 1850 cases of Ebola
fever, which led to 1200 deaths. The source of the virus in nature are rodents. A sick person is also a danger to others, the Ebola virus released from the
patients about 3 weeks.
