According to Stanislav Korotkiy, the representative of Russian astronomical observatory "Ka-Dar", located in the Moscow region, Russia,- on the night of
December 16, 2011, the brightness of the recently discovered comet Lovejoy has reached its maximum and it will become the brightest object in Earth's night
sky, as at that time the comet Lovejoy fly at very close distance from the Sun, almost touching its surface. Comet Lovejoy C/2011 W3 was opened by an
amateur astronomer Terry Lovejoy from Australia on November 27, 2011. Comet Lovejoy is part of the Creutz comets, which are characterized by the fact,
that this comets pass very close to the Sun. According to astronomers, the comet Lovejoy is the largest comet, which were discovered in the past few years, so
it is possible, that the comet C/2011 W3 can break even at the approach to the Sun, but if the comet will survive, it will become the brightest object in Earth's
sky.
