A group of scientists from the Southwest Research Institute in U.S., based on the study of new data, obtained from the ultraviolet spectrograph
Cosmic Origins, which is installed on the Hubble Space Telescope, put forward the hypothesis, that on Pluto's surface located a large amount of
organic matter. According to scientists, it is the presence of significant quantities of organic matter on the surface of Pluto might explain the absorption
of certain obscure parts of the spectrum of reflected sunlight, as a result of this organic matter create a unique spectrum of Pluto, which suggests the
existence on Pluto's surface the complex organic compounds. Since the majority of Pluto's surface is covered with ice, this discovery also led to the
hypothesis, that under the ice surface of Pluto may be a liquid ocean, in which may also be present and the simplest forms of life as well as organic
substances, that are responsible for the spectral hue of Pluto, it is theoretically can be combined into more complex molecules, viruses and another life
forms. In 2015 the scientists will have a good opportunity to test this hypothesis- the NASA probe will fly close to Pluto.
