A group of scientists from the University of Texas, USA under the guidance of Andrea Alu was able to make invisible the 18-inch cylinder, which
was invisible from any direction, but only in
microwave range of electromagnetic waves. To create a sort of "cap of darkness" was used by a special plasma metamaterial (plasmonic
metamaterial), which causes the microwaves to wrap around themselves, as a result, a beam of microwaves aimed at a piece of this material, passes
through the surface and exits from the opposite side, making any object enclosed within the material is completely invisible from any angle of
observation, as an observer it seems, that a beam of microwaves applies straightforwardly. However, this effect has not yet been applied to the visible
electromagnetic waves.
