According to the specialist of NASA - in the period from 2003 to 2010, the level of the World Ocean rose by 12 mm. Such an accurate assessment was possible
done with the assistance of modern technology of satellite monitoring of World Ocean level. Scientists estimate, that increasing was due to the
melting of the Greenland, Arctic and Antarctica ice sheets, as well as snow melting on mountain peaks and glaciers around the world, with the total mass of melted ice amounted to
4.3 trillion tons. Using the latest technology of satellite monitoring in the present allows us to estimate, what quantity of ice, which it melts-in, the Arctic and Antarctica is melting each
year nearly 400 billion tons of ice, on the other glaciers and mountain tops of the Earth - about a third of this amount.
