A group of scientists from Cambridge University, UK, led by Mark Holmes, has opened a new deadly strain of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The studies revealed, that a new strain of MRSA is not only resistant to most antibiotics, as usual MRSA, but the new strain is not detected by standard molecular tests, due to the presence of a specific gene mecA, which is usually detected by conventional strains of MRSA.
