At the conference "Extreme Solar Systems”, team of astronomers announced, that the Earth can outlive the death of the Sun. However, it will happen only about 5 billion years, when the interior of the Sun exhausted fuel for fusion reactions and the Sun begins to turn into a red dwarf. During this process, the size of the Sun will rise so much, that it will absorb Mercury and Venus, and there is a chance that the Earth will not be absorbed by the Sun, and will be thrown at a distant orbit, enabling it to survive the expansion of the Sun, if Earth will not collide with other planets.
