Based on analysis of data, collected by the American probe “Messenger” near the Mercury, "Messenger," a group of researchers led by James Head from Brown University in Providence, United States, found evidence of violent volcanic activity on Mercury's surface. Particularly strong traces of lava spills were found near the north pole of Mercury. Altogether, according to scientific estimates, the floods of lava covering up to 6% of Mercury's surface, the thickness of some lava spill reaches the earth to the incredible size - about a kilometer.
