As reported on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia -on September 26, 2011 "in the margin" of 66th UN General Assembly session in New York hosted a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay Luis Almagro. During the meeting was signed the agreement between the Government of Russia and the Government of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay on the "context of non-visa requirements for mutual trips of citizens of both countries." Also at the meeting focused on key issues of bilateral and international agenda. Following the meeting, the ministers called for further intensification of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
