Sanctions will continue to communicate Israel and Russia, the European Union will ban the import from Israel

Ministry of Agriculture of Israel sent a letter this week to all heads of enterprises producing dairy and meat products for export abroad, with the order to urgently start the division of goods into two groups - produced within the so-called "Green Line" and produced abroad.
A company should draw up lists, which will indicate where the economy in which they buy raw materials - meat, fish, poultry and milk.

The letter says that since September 1, 2014 shall come into force the decision of the European Commission, prohibiting importation into the EU of products of animal origin, produced "in the occupied territories," that is outside the borders of Israel in 1967. Sanctions affect not only the areas of Judea and Samaria, but the Golan Heights and East Jerusalem.

The decision was taken on February 17 and since then the Israeli leadership has endeavored to ensure that it be rescinded. But all was in vain, and in late July, Israel has received notice that the solution finally approved and will come into force in September this year.

Until now, Europe was satisfied that the labeled products made for the "green line" to assist consumers to boycott these products. Now, however, a complete ban on exports.

For Israel, this means an immediate loss of $ 70-80 million shekels a year, not so much. More dangerous precedent itself - in fact, after the ban on products of animal origin, the EU can go further, and to prohibit and other products of the Israeli production.

It should be noted that Israel - the only country whose relations with the European Union in recent years greatly complicated. Russia, banned the importation of imported products, in response to sanctions, too, was in a difficult situation. And, perhaps, the two countries can benefit from the situation.

On the eve of Israeli Agriculture Minister Yair Shamir gave an interview to Channel 9, in which he stated that Israeli companies do not miss an opportunity to expand their markets. According to the minister, in Russia appreciate the "white-blue" products - as long as it is mainly fruits and vegetables, but it is possible that in the light of recent events exports will be expanded. Shamir noted that while the problem of the "Green Line" in Russian-Israeli relations did not rise, but it is also connected with the specifics of the goods produced in the settlements.
