How sad, but despite the fact that the ranking of the best TVs in recent years has been the plasma in the first places for several reasons producers curtail their production

End of an era of plasma TV

South Korean company LG Electronics announced that by the end of November to cease all production of plasma TV, as it believes that this technology is no longer able to compete with LCD displays and therefore does not make sense in the future to support it. In its decision, LG joins companies such as Samsung and Panasonic, which, in turn, also decided to cease production of such panels.

Representatives of LG Electronics said that the decision on Tuesday, is the result of a significant reduction in demand for plasma TVs. According to the calculations of the analytical department, the percentage of this segment of the market in 2013 declined to 2.4 per cent of total revenue. The decision to cease production of plasma panels was unanimously accepted by the company management, which surely has decided that LCD-TV now has a leading position in the global market.

"We wanted to maximize the life of their presence in the market", - said the representative of LG Ken Hawn in an interview with Reuters publishing in conversation about the production of plasma panels.

"But no matter how hard we try. This business is simply not a profit. "

Analysts say that in his time plasma displays technically were unable to provide the ability to use higher resolution and, in addition, consume far more electricity and generate more heat than LCD.

"All these factors combined have forced industry players to focus on the LCD-technology" - says Yeo Jin Kyu, Seoul analyst company IBK Securities.

Other analytical companies share the views of their colleagues from Seoul. Marketing research firm NPD DisplaySearch July forecast that the world's supply of plasma TV will drop from 5.2 million in 2014 to 500 thousand in 2015 and finally completely disappear from the shelves.

The Japanese company Panasonic in October last year announced that goes out of business for the production of plasma TV. With the failure of the production of LG plasma panels last major player in this market segment will be the South Korean company Samsung Electronics.

Samsung says it plans to continue production of plasma TV, while refusing to comment on how she would take them after a subsidiary of Samsung SDI will cease production of plasma panels by the end of November
