Turkey has tightened the requirements for foreign passports
On January 1, 2015 Turkey changes the requirements for foreign passports of foreign visitors, said the Turkish Embassy in the Russian Federation. According to the law of the Turkish Republic "Aliens and International Protection", the validity of passports of Russian citizens, who are eligible for visa-free stay in Turkey for 60 days, shall expire not less than 120 days from the date of entry into the country. Thus, if the validity of the passport expires in four months before, then refuse entry to Turkey. Now Russians can travel to Turkey without any restrictions passport validity.
Recall Law "On Foreigners and International Protection" was adopted on 16 April 2014 and immediately entered into force. Neither tour operators nor tourists were not prepared for such an eventuality. The announcement has appeared on the website of the Turkish Embassy in Moscow only on April 16 and only after an appeal to the consulate representatives of tourist industry, which began to reach up to the rumors about the new rules. It is noteworthy that, and then to find this information on the embassy website was quite difficult. As a result, the Russians were forced to cancel a trip to Turkey paid trip for May holidays. There were also several cases of deportation of tourists with "wrong" passports.
Russian Union of Travel Industry had to send letters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey and the Turkish Ambassador to the Russian Federation, which expressed concern about the new requirements for validity of passports of citizens of Russia. After the issue was brought to the attention, for the Russians an exception was made, and Turkey officially published decree of the Council of Ministers "On the postponement of entry into force of the law number 6458 at the end of 2014". Thus, the rules for Russian citizens entering Turkey before the end of 2014 remained unchanged. Authorities postponed the implementation of innovations prior to 1 January 2015, so the trip to the New Year holidays this winter is to approach more closely.
