On August 31, 2018, for the first time, a test delivery of goods to the island of Hainan, China through a newly created electronic free trade pilot zone, involving a simplified customs clearance - from Hainan Island from Canada, was delivered about a thousand items of various goods that were later redirected to Beijing, Shandong , Guangdong, Shanxi, Shanghai and other places on the Hainan Island via EMS.
It is reported that most of these products were common products of e-commerce - these are basically cosmetics, skin care products, clothes and shoes from Canada. Thanks to this launch of e-commerce and with easy customs clearance, a cross-border direct purchase business in electronic commerce will be fully opened in Haikou in September 2018, and goods from North America, East Asia, Australia and Southeast Asia will enter the integrated Haikou product area.
In order to facilitate the establishment of the Hainan Free Trade Zone and a free trade port with Chinese characteristics, the comprehensive Haikou product area accelerated the development of new cross-border e-commerce formats and launched a number of innovative initiatives. It is reported that a warehouse with an area of 20,000 square meters and an international business center with an area of 7,000 square meters in a transnational industrial park of electronic commerce have been put into operation, and more than 20 home appliances companies signed a cooperation agreement promoting an innovative mode of "cross-border e-commerce + retail sales ".
The new center of the electronic free trade pilot zone in Hainan Province, China, will be deployed to facilitate international tourism in Hainan, with the support of such e-commerce enterprises as Vipshop, Fengqu Haitao, E-Wharf and others.
