Thailand will open for entry without a coronavirus test for those vaccinated from May 1, 2022

The Thai government has announced that it will further loosen entry conditions: from May 1, 2022, foreign tourists who have been fully vaccinated will not need to undergo nucleic acid testing upon entering Thailand.

According to the international platform Trip.com, on the day of the announcement, the number of views of local hotels in Thailand by foreign users increased by 29% compared to the same day last week, and the number of domestic flight bookings in Thailand increased by 29%.

Tourism is one of the main pillars of the Thai economy. After the National Tourism Administration of Thailand announced that passengers entering Thailand from April will no longer be required to undergo a 72-hour nucleic acid test before departure, this has also spurred the enthusiasm of some overseas tourists to visit Thailand.

In terms of overseas markets, since this month, the total volume of inbound tourism bookings through the Trip.com platform has also increased significantly, with a monthly increase of 17% last week. The rate of entry into Thailand from South Korea, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and other countries remains high. On the Skyscanner platform, clicks on flights from Israel, Switzerland, France, the United States and other countries to Thailand increased by double digits. In Thailand, bookings for April 22 flights increased 22% year-on-year, with flight segments up 12%.

About 15,000 local hotels in Thailand are available for booking on Ctrip, mainly in cities such as Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Krabi. In particular, in the first four months of this year, the average price of five-star hotels in Bangkok and Phuket, Thailand fell by about 50% compared to the same period in 2019 before the epidemic.

With the overlap of the twin drivers of policy easing and economic efficiency gains, Thailand's passenger traffic has gradually recovered, and the actual income and popularity of local hotels have also increased significantly. Since April, the overall average price of hotels in Thailand has risen, with the average price of three- and five-star hotels up 16% from the previous month.

In terms of travel safety, Thailand has officially launched the "Magic Thailand Safety and Health Label Certification", which tracks, evaluates and certifies 10 types of businesses, including restaurants, hotels, attractions, transportation and travel agencies, in accordance with public health standards and high standards. - service quality standards to ensure safety and health, effectively prevent and reduce the likelihood of infection with the new coronavirus.

“Thailand is a country whose main industry is tourism, so it is understandable that they are gradually resuming tourism, but the current global epidemic is not over. Knowing the travel policy and applying various protections, safety should come first. At present, China's outbound tourism has not fully recovered, and travel agencies are temporarily not organizing outbound group tours, but if tourists meet the relevant conditions and procedures are completed, then an individual can leave the country.
