Typhoon PHANFONE unexpectedly lost its strength when passing through the Paracel Islands, it is now 500 kilometers from Sanya, Hainan, China, with a wind speed of up to 50 kilometers per hour at its epicenter.

Therefore, typhoon PHANFONE will no longer reach Sanya, Hainan, China until the New Year 2020, turning into a tropical depression that could cause periodic rains on Hainan Island in late 2019 and early 2020.
