SE trains do not stop at small stations. The main route - it's Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon station). The fastest train takes between 29 hours. At selected sites, Trains Superior Ho Chi Minh City-Nha Trang with a stop in Phan Thiet and Hanoi-Danang with stops at Hue. In the northern part of Vietnam, there are routes Hanoi-Sapa (Kunming line in China), Hanoi, Halong, Hanoi-Haiphong and Hanoi-Lang Son. Between Vietnam and China attend two passenger trains: Hanoi-Beijing and Hanoi-Nanning through the border crossing at Dong Dang, Lang Son Province.
Railways of Vietnam and Cambodia are not connected.
Compartment in the sleeping cars are 4-bed (2 levels) and 6-seater (3 tiers).
In November 2008 the Government of Vietnam adopted a major program of modernization of railways.
