The Dongfang 1-1 gas field in Hainan Island has the potential to increase
production to 6.9 billion cubic meters.
CNOOC reported that the largest current gas field in the South China Sea,
Dongfang 1-1, which was fully completed and put into operation in 2006 and
delivered more than 30 billion cubic meters of gas to Hainan, according to
reports, to implement 15 corrective wells, which are expected to increase gas
production to 6.9 billion cubic meters of gas, which will reduce the rate of
decline in gas production by 4 percentage points. At present, 6 correction wells
have been completed, and the daily gas production increment is 2 million cubic
meters.
The Dongfang 1-1 gas field is located in the Yinggehai basin in the Beibu Bay of
the South China Sea, about 110 kilometers from Dongfang on the Hainan Island. In
2003, the first phase of the Dongfang 1-1 gas field project was commissioned,
and the extracted natural gas was mainly supplied to the Fudao Phase II project,
which was commissioned in China in the same year. The project is located in the
East Industrial Park. In 2006, the second phase of the Dongfang 1-1 gas pipeline
project was successfully commissioned, and the produced natural gas was mainly
used for a gas production project of 600,000 tons in our province.
