December 10, 2017 in Sanya City on the island of Hainan will again open the world sailing competition - the World
Sailing Championship 2017, where more than 400 young people from more than 60 countries will compete with each other
this year in the largest sailing competition in 2017. The World Sailing Championship 2017 around Hainan Island is
organized by the World Sailing Federation and the Association of Chinese Sailboats and is an important preparatory
platform for young athletes who can take part in such major sporting events of 2018 as the Olympic Games, the
America's Cup and the Volvo Ocean Race.
Being a beautiful seaside city, Sanya City made various efforts to create the "International Sailing Capital" for
many years and became one of the cities in China, which has the largest number of international tournaments and
independent sailing tournaments. The World Sailing Federation has very strict standards in choosing the venue for the
official competition, but already now calls the Sanya City the international capital of sailing by the number of
competitions it has held in recent years.
