Hainan Province sees a significant increase in the use of foreign capital in 2020

In 2020, Hainan has seen a significant increase in the use of foreign capital, now there are 407 newly established enterprises with foreign financing in Hainan, an increase of 86.7% compared to the same period in 2019, and the actual use of foreign capital was 387 million USD , which is 33.13% more compared to the same period in 2019. In August 2020 alone, 119 foreign-funded enterprises were opened in Hainan province, up 310.34% over last year.


Following the announcement of the Hainan Free Trade Port General Plan, a number of important favorable policies were introduced, which attracted a lot of attention from foreign investors, and the enthusiasm for investment and entrepreneurship continued to grow. From June to August, 255 foreign-funded enterprises were established in Hainan province, accounting for 62.65% of the province's total foreign-funded start-ups in the first eight months.


In the first 8 months, in terms of investment sectors, out of 18 sectors of the national economy, with the exception of the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and water, 17 sectors created enterprises with foreign capital. Among them, wholesale and retail, leasing and business services, information transfer, software and information technology services accounted for 267 foreign-funded start-ups, accounting for 65.6% of the total number of foreign-funded start-ups in the province. 11 industries, including leasing and business services, wholesaling and retailing, water management, environmental protection and government asset management, actually used foreign capital, leasing and business services, water management, environmental protection and government asset management.


In terms of sources of investment, a total of 50 countries (regions) have newly established foreign-funded enterprises in Hainan, and Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and the United States are among the leaders in the number of foreign-funded start-ups.


In terms of foreign investment represented by cities and counties, Haikou, Sanya and Qionghai achieved an annual increase in foreign investment used. Among them, Haikou actually used $ 302 million of foreign capital, up 171.54% from a year earlier, accounting for 78.11% of the province's total foreign investment.
