The UK was the first country, that closed its airspace to Russian aircraft (on the night of February 25), then on February 27, foreign ministers from 27 EU countries approved the complete closure of Community airspace to Russian aircraft.
Therefore, the Federal Air Transport Agency, the Federal Tourism Agency and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) are currently developing a plan to bring Russian citizens home from Europe, as follows from the joint statement of the Federal Air Transport Agency and the Federal Tourism Agency.
According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), over 150 thousand Russian tourists are currently abroad, while about 30 thousand Russian tourists are in countries where there are problems with flying to Russia (Europe, Caribbean countries, USA).
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia stated that in the current situation, Russian tour operators will not be able to cope with the export of all Russian tourists on their own, help is needed from regulators: the Federal Tourism Agency and the Ministry of Transport of Russia to organize special flights.
A special meeting will be held today to discuss issues related to the export of tourists from all closed countries.
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia reports that agreements can be reached with a number of EU countries on providing special one-time corridors for export "humanitarian flights" with Russian tourists. After clarification, a schedule of such flights will be formed. Russian airlines are ready to fulfill their obligations to passengers and deliver them home, subject to the assistance of the aviation authorities of European countries on this issue.
At the same time, as TASS reported, the return to the Russian Federation of both organized and independent tourists from all countries that have closed the sky for Russian aircraft is being considered.
In a joint statement of the Federal Air Transport Agency and Rostourism, it is noted that all tourists, both organized and independent, need to keep in touch with their tour operator or carrier and must register in the Foreign Assistant mobile application of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
